SIGNUP BONUS

With the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, you will earn 50,000 bonus miles once you spend $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening. That means you will get a bonus worth $500 in travel to spend any way you like just by signing up for this credit card.

With the ability to spend the $500 on any airline or hotel that you want, the World is yours. You can cover the cost of a flight on Southwest Airlines to Las Vegas and a hotel room at the Wynn for a night. Or if you want to go on a family trip, you can cover the cost of one night at the Atlantis Hotel in the Bahamas.

What makes the signup bonus even more amazing is that it is not impossible to hit. Spending $3,000 in 3 months might sound impossible. But let's break it down for you. All you need to do is spend $1,000 a month for 3 months in a row. If you put your gas, mobile phone, groceries, meals, Target trips, and other major bills on your credit card you will likely hit the spend threshold for the bonus points.

Capital One designed the bonus so that you can hit it. The only reason there is a minimum spend is because Capital One wants to make sure that you are actually using the card. So, make sure to use the card for items that you would pay for in cash or on a debit card and you should be able to hit the signup bonus.

EARNING AND REDEEMING POINTS

It is always important to understand exactly how many points you earn per dollar you spend. This is another aspect that makes this card amazing. You earn 2 points when you spend $1. So, if you spend $100 you earn 200 points.

It does not matter where you spend the money to earn the points. This means that regardless of whether you spend the $100 on groceries or on travel, you would still earn 200 points. This is great because you do not need to plan on when to use your card like with other rotating category cards.

While it does not matter where you spend the money to earn the points, it does matter where you spend the money to redeem the points. Using the example above, when you spend $100 on groceries or travel, you earn the same 200 points.

When you go to redeem the points for cash back you earn $15 for 2,500 points. When you redeem the points for travel credits, you earn $25 for 2,500 points. So this card is great because if you absolutely need cash, this card provides an option to get it. But the better option is to redeem the points for travel so that you earn the highest potential value

WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY EARN?

If you spend $2,000 a month on this credit card, you will earn 48,000 miles every year. That comes to $480 a year in value when you redeem the points as a statement credit for travel. In your first year of using this card, the signup bonus plus the points for spending $2,000 a month is worth a total of $980. This is unbelievable! Just by signing up for this card and putting your everyday expenses on it, you can cover the cost of a round trip for a romantic getaway for 2 people to go to the Bahamas.

If you spend $4,000 a month on this credit card, you will earn 96,000 miles every year. That comes to a value of $960 if you redeem the points for travel. The first year you have this card, the signup bonus plus the points if you spend $4,000 a month is worth $1,360 in value. With the signup bonus and points, you can cover the costs for a family of four's roundtrip airline tickets to Disneyworld.

ANY HOTEL OR AIRLINE YOU WANT

One of the best things about the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card is that you can literally fly on any airline or stay at any hotel that you want. This is not like the United MileagePlus Explorer card where you have to fly on United Airlines.

If you live in Los Angeles and want to go to Las Vegas, simply go to Southwest and book your ticket. Then you can redeem the points as a travel statement credit.

If you want to go to Disney World and stay at the Swan Resort, just book the hotel and redeem the points for travel credits.

There are no limits to where you can go with this credit card. You don't need to worry about transferring points to specific brands. It is very simple to use the points you earn. Just go book the hotel or flight with your credit card and get the money back at $.01 per point in the form of a statement credit applied to your account.

A SMALL ANNUAL FEE FOR A LOT OF REWARDS

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card comes with an annual fee of $95. Is the annual fee worth it? Yes! First of all, the annual fee is waived by Capital One the first year of having the credit card. Meaning you get everything we have discussed in this article for free the first year. As discussed above, the signup bonus alone is worth $500. The signup bonus alone, therefore, pays for the annual fee for over 5 years of having the card.

Suppose you spend $1,000 a month with this credit card. You would earn 24,000 points each year. That is worth $240 in travel credits. So, the answer is simple: If you do at least 1 vacation or trip a year, this card is definitely worth it.

NO FOREIGN TRANSACTION FEES

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card is truly designed for travel, including travel abroad. When you use most credit cards on an international trip, the bank gets us for an extra 3% of all transactions we make. This means that when we finally save up enough money to take our family to Cancun, whenever you swipe your credit card the bank is finding another creative way to get money out of us in the form of a fee.

Not with the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card! There are absolutely no foreign transaction fees. When you charge $3,000 during your trip to Cancun, you only pay $3,000. That means you save $90 in transaction fees. With that $90 you take an Uber to and from the hotel you are staying at. This might not sound like a lot of money, but it can add up quickly.
