The Quicksilver credit card from Capital One is a straight-forward cash back credit card with an awesome signup bonus. When you sign up for this card and spend $500 in the first 3 months, you will get the one-time $150 cash back bonus.

You need to spend $166 a month on the credit card to hit the signup bonus. Capital One basically wants you to hit the bonus as long as you are using the card. If you simply put your groceries and gas on this credit card every month, you should be able to hit the signup bonus and get the $150 cash bonus.

This is a very simple cash back credit card. You earn 1.5% cash back on every purchase you make. This is not a rotating categories card where you earn more cash back for making purchases in specific categories. Regardless of whether you use the card for a meal or for a vacation, you earn 1.5% back every time you swipe the card.

If you spend $12,000 a year on this credit card, you will earn an extra $180 back per year. This breaks down to spending $1,000 on the card a month or $250 per week. A lot of people will spend $1,000 a month on a credit card. If you put your gas, cell phone, internet and cable on your credit card, you should be able to spend $1,000 a month.

If you spend $30,000 a year on this credit card, you will earn an extra $450 back each year. This might seem like a lot of money to put on a credit card every month. However, it breaks down to $625 a week on the credit card. So, if you are able to put your rent and/or car payment on your credit card, most people will be spending at least this much money and therefore earn $450 in straight hard cash back just for swiping your credit card instead of paying with a check or cash.

Another great feature about this card is that you don't have to pay any interest for 9 months. This means that when you buy goods or services using your card, all you need to do is make the minimum payments.

Picture that your car breaks down and you have to shell out $500 to fix it. The insurance premium is $1,000. Why not get this credit card and put the $500 on it?

You would hit the signup bonus so you would get $150 back right away. That means you would be basically getting $150 off of the $500. So now you only owe $350 for a $500 service. That is amazing!

Moreover, you would not have to pay any interest on the $350. If you pay $38 a month towards the $350 you owe for the service, you would just have to make payments in the amount of $38 per month for 9 months. In other words, you would be financing the service at 0% interest and getting $150 off of the price.

This card can also be used to make balance transfers at a 0% APR. That means that if you are currently carrying a balance on, say, your Chase Freedom of $3,000 and paying an interest rate of 20%, you can transfer the $3,000 to the Quicksilver credit card from Capital One and pay 0% interest for 9 months.

Bear in mind that there is a 3% transaction fee for all balance transfers with this card. Based on the example above, then, you would pay a $90 fee for transferring the balance but no additional interest for 9 months.

While most credit cards come with a 3% foreign transaction fee on all purchases made abroad, there is absolutely no foreign transaction fee associated with this card. That means when you finally save up enough money for a romantic getaway to Paris to see the Eifel Tower, you will only pay the amount of money that it costs per transaction. If you spend $3,000 in Paris with a credit card that has a foreign transaction fee, it would cost you an extra $90. You can pay for the cost of an amazing dinner with the money you will be saving on foreign transaction fees.
